Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Peer Support Specialist to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will serve as a compassionate advocate and mentor for individuals navigating mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions. Responsibilities Provide peer support and mentorship to individuals experiencing mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders by sharing personal recovery experiences and fostering hope. Assist clients in developing recovery goals using motivational interviewing techniques and harm reduction strategies. Offer crisis management and crisis intervention support during urgent situations, ensuring safety and stabilization. Collaborate with clinical teams to coordinate care plans, ensuring client needs are met holistically. Maintain strict confidentiality of client information in accordance with privacy laws and organizational policies. Advocate for clients' needs within culturally diverse communities, promoting social justice and equitable access to services. Document client interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems and track progress toward recovery milestones. Requirements Lived experience with mental health recovery or substance use recovery is highly valued; certification as a peer support specialist is preferred or willingness to obtain certification upon hire. Demonstrated knowledge of behavioral health principles, addiction counseling, harm reduction, and motivational interviewing techniques. Experience working with individuals with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders in diverse settings. Strong crisis management skills with the ability to perform crisis intervention effectively under pressure. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships across culturally diverse communities. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards at all times. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes.
