A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

Job Description

Position is located in the beautiful Gainesville, GA (one hour north of Atlanta, GA) Children and Adolescents who battle substance abuse need a fun alternative to drugs and alcohol. Kids need a place to socialize and belong.
This Behavioral Professional will:
As part of an interdisciplinary team, participate in daily oversight of an adolescent substance abuse clubhouse. Must be energetic and have a passion for working with teens. Conduct counseling sessions on an individual, group and family basis. Lead groups and family outreach to clients and families in a clubhouse environment. Provide general oversight to consumers while on site Organize and supervise activities such as movie night, board game night, sports night, electronic games, and field trips. Document all services rendered. Candidates must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays (must be available Monday - Friday 11:00 to 7:00 and one Saturday a month). Candidates must also be willing to participate in recreation and leisure activities based on client/group needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
CACII (or CADC equivalent) certification from the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association (GACA) required Bachelor's Degree Must have experience in conducting recreational activities. Bilingual a plus. Applicants must not have six (6) or more points against his/her driver's license and no driver may have had a suspended or revoked license within the past five years.
