Responsibilities Conduct thorough client assessments, including diagnostic evaluation using DSM-5 criteria and ICD coding standards, to determine appropriate treatment plans. Deliver individual and group counseling sessions utilizing behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and evidence-based addiction counseling techniques. Facilitate crisis intervention and crisis management strategies to ensure client safety during acute episodes or emotional distress. Collaborate with clients' families and support systems through child & family counseling and home & community care initiatives to promote holistic recovery. Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, medical documentation standards, and electronic health records (EHR/EHR management). Engage in case management activities including intake procedures, patient assessment, treatment planning, and follow-up care coordination. Participate in ongoing research efforts, data collection, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes and service delivery. Requirements Valid certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) or equivalent credential with active licensure or certification recognized by state licensing boards. Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, and trauma-related issues such as PTSD. Strong knowledge of mental health counseling modalities including psychotherapy, behavioral health interventions, applied behavior analysis, and DSM-5 diagnostic standards. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for documentation, patient records management, and CPT coding procedures. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse cultural backgrounds in both individual and group settings. Ability to perform mental health assessments, crisis intervention, and behavioral management techniques confidently. Knowledge of medical terminology related to addiction medicine, mental health care, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and clinical documentation standards.
