A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

  • CSAC We are seeking a compassionate, dependable Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) to join our counseling team for a part
  • time position. This position is ideal for a counselor who enjoys working directly with individuals in recovery and being part of a supportive, client-centered treatment environment. Position Responsibilities
  • Facilitate substance use treatment and educational groups
  • Provide individual counseling sessions
  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation and charting
  • Develop and update individualized treatment plans
  • Assess client progress and make appropriate treatment recommendations
  • Collaborate with other members of the treatment team
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards and client confidentiality Schedule This position requires a combination of daytime and evening hours to accommodate client treatment needs. Qualifications
  • Current Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) credential in the Commonwealth of Virginia required
  • Experience providing substance use disorder treatment and facilitating groups preferred
  • ASAM Criteria Certification preferred
  • Strong clinical documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to establish appropriate therapeutic relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
