Thousand Oaks, CA https://athenacoding.com/ After-School Minecraft Coding Instructor - Thousand OaksPosition Overview Athena Coding is hiring an engaging, dependable instructor to lead a Minecraft Coding and Design Studio class for elementary-age students in Thousand Oaks. This is a hands-on after-school enrichment class that uses Minecraft as a platform for students to explore coding, design, problem-solving, creativity, and digital building challenges. Athena provides the complete curriculum, lesson plans, activity instructions, and program materials . Instructors do not need to create their own curriculum. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with technology, enjoys working with children, and can confidently guide students through prepared activities. Previous experience with Minecraft is strongly preferred. Coding or STEM experience is helpful, but applicants do not need to be professional programmers or computer science teachers. Schedule Mondays, 3:30-4:30 PM Current program dates: September 14, 21, 28 October 5, 12, 19 Applicants should be able to commit reliably to the full session. This position is ideal for someone looking for a consistent, short weekly teaching commitment. Responsibilities Review Athena's provided lesson plan before each class Lead students through prepared Minecraft coding, design, and building activities Explain technical concepts and instructions in an age-appropriate way Help students troubleshoot and stay engaged with class projects Encourage creativity, experimentation, and problem-solving Manage classroom behavior and transitions Keep students focused on the instructional activity rather than unstructured game play Communicate reliably with Athena staff Student Group Students are approximately ages 6-12 . Instructors should be comfortable working with elementary-age students who may have different levels of experience with Minecraft and technology. Lessons are structured so that students can learn progressively with instructor guidance. Qualifications Experience working with children through teaching, tutoring, camps, childcare, coaching, after-school programs, or similar work Comfortable using computers and learning educational technology Reliable, punctual, organized, and comfortable leading a group Able to explain instructions clearly and troubleshoot basic student technology issues Reliable transportation to Thousand Oaks Able to complete required background-check and onboarding requirements
Preferred:
Experience with Minecraft Education Coding, computer science, game design, engineering, or STEM experience Previous elementary classroom or after-school teaching experience Experience teaching technology or digital creative programs to children This is a W-2 employee position with Athena Coding.
