Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Lead the way in supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity is based in a K-5 classroom, where you'll work closely with students who benefit from personalized academic, social-emotional, and behavioral guidance. Qualifications & Credentials:
Valid Maine 282 certification and CHRC required Willingness to complete Safety Care training Experience developing and implementing effective positive behavioral support plans Familiarity with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions and programs Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) frameworks is highly valued Strong collaboration and communication skills for partnering with families, staff, and service providers Passion for fostering a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized instruction, accommodations, and behavioral supports for students with a range of disabilities in K-5 Write and execute IEP plans, tracking student progress toward academic and developmental goals Design and manage positive behavioral intervention programs to support student success and safety Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families for holistic student support Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations Integrate MTSS and data-driven approaches in instructional and behavioral planning Imagine your impact in cultivating growth, independence, and confidence for students who need it most.
