Teacher of Deaf / DHH (Deaf & Hard of Hearing)

Long Term Contract (possible conversion to FTE) Overview Join our dedicated team as a Special Education Specialist specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH), Visual Impairments (VI), and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE). In this vital role, you will empower children with diverse learning needs by providing tailored instructional support, fostering inclusive classroom environments, and collaborating with families and educators. Your expertise will help unlock each child's potential, ensuring they receive the personalized education and developmental support they deserve. Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with each child's unique needs and goals Deliver specialized instruction in areas such as literacy education, math, physical education, and communication skills tailored for students with disabilities Manage classroom environments effectively through proactive classroom management and behavior management strategies Collaborate closely with speech therapists, behavioral therapists, and other specialists to support speech therapy, behavioral health, and early intervention efforts Utilize learning technology and adaptive tools to enhance lesson planning and student engagement Conduct assessments using standardized testing to monitor progress and inform instructional adjustments Support early childhood development through toddler care, preschool experience, and early intervention techniques Requirements Bachelor's degree or higher in special education, childhood development, or a related field; relevant certifications required for working with individuals with disabilities Proven classroom experience working with children with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or sensory impairments such as DHH or VI Strong knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, and behavior management strategies Experience in working with individuals with disabilities across various age groups including toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams Familiarity with learning technology tools and adaptive educational resources Ability to manage classroom environments proactively while maintaining a positive learning atmosphere Join us in creating an inclusive educational environment where every child can thrive!
