Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference supporting students as a Special Education Teacher on a long-term contract assignment near Meriden, CT. Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
Current certification in Special Education Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (Master's preferred) Previous experience teaching in a special education setting strongly desired Familiarity with developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Effective communication skills with students, families, and colleagues Strong classroom management and adaptive instruction abilities Ability to work collaboratively with other educators and support staff
Role Responsibilities:
Deliver dedicated, individualized instruction to students with diverse learning needs Develop and modify lesson plans to accommodate varying abilities and learning styles Create, update, and monitor student IEPs in accordance with district and state guidelines Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies to support ongoing academic and social growth Maintain clear communication with parents, guardians, and multidisciplinary teams Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and self-advocacy Manage required documentation and maintain compliance with regulatory standards In this position, you'll play a vital role in supporting students' success while collaborating with supportive staff in a mission-driven setting.
