Job Description

Description Our trusted client is looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support key accounting operations for a contract position based in Michigan. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can manage core financial processes while contributing to accounting system optimization and user support. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in month-end activities, general ledger management, and journal entry review, along with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
The day-to-day responsibilities include:
Lead month-end close activities, ensuring financial records are completed accurately and on schedule. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to support reliable financial reporting. Prepare, review, and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and internal controls. Oversee fixed asset accounting, including tracking additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliations. Partner with internal stakeholders and implementation consultants to support finance-related system rollout activities and process alignment. Provide practical guidance and training to end users on SAP Business One functionality within accounting workflows. Identify process gaps and recommend improvements that strengthen efficiency, accuracy, and reporting consistency. Requirements The ideal candidate will have the following skillsets: At least 5 years of accounting experience, including senior-level responsibilities. Strong background in month-end close, general ledger accounting, and journal entry preparation. Hands-on experience with SAP Business One; advanced user knowledge is strongly preferred. Prior involvement in accounting software implementation or finance system enhancement initiatives. Working knowledge of fixed asset accounting and related reconciliations. Ability to operate independently in a Contract role while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
