Staff Accountant (CPA track)

About the role We oversee a portfolio of small businesses in the flooring and flooring-adjacent space. We're looking for a high-ownership Staff Accountant who is either a CPA or actively pursuing the CPA (or has strong prior CPA-firm experience). This role is ideal for someone who likes variety, wants direct exposure to leadership, and enjoys improving processes—not just closing the books. What you'll do Monthly close & financial reporting Own portions of the month-end close across multiple entities (G/L, accruals, reclasses, reconciliations) Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations (cash, AR, AP, prepaid, fixed assets, credit cards, intercompany) Assist with consolidated reporting, variance analysis, and KPI tracking Operational accounting Support job/project accounting (WIP where applicable), revenue recognition workflows, and margin analysis Support the AP process, including vendor payables and subcontractor payments Review AP coding and ensure consistent expense classification across companies Tax & compliance support Assist with sales/use tax compliance coordination (multi-state exposure a plus) Support annual audit/review/tax engagements by preparing schedules and responding to requests Maintain strong internal controls and documentation standards Process improvement Help standardize accounting policies and close checklists across entities Improve workflows for credit cards, reimbursements, vendor statements, and recurring journal entries Identify automation opportunities within our accounting tech stack What we're looking for Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or Finance with strong accounting background)

CPA, CPA

candidate, or significant CPA-firm experience 2+ years of accounting experience (public accounting or multi-entity industry experience preferred) Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data cleanup; comfort working with large datasets) High attention to detail, strong ownership, and ability to manage multiple priorities Preferred Experience with multiple entities / multi-location businesses Construction/flooring/home services, job costing, or project accounting exposure Familiarity with QuickBooks (Online/Desktop), Sage, NetSuite, or similar ERPs Sales tax / use tax experience across states You'll be successful if you… Thrive in a fast-moving environment and enjoy switching contexts without dropping details Communicate clearly Staff Accountant (CPA Track) —
