Job Description
The Town of Ross is excited to announce an opening for the position of Camp Director - Wilderness Explorers in the Recreation Services department. Ross Recreation is seeking an experienced, energetic, and motivated individual with an innovative and fun approach to summer camp program development. Under the general direction from the Recreation Manager, the Camp Director performs a variety of work which may include planning, organizing, coordinating, mentoring and supervising the Wilderness Explorers Camp program. A commitment of the following days and weeks is required, with hours up to 40 hours;

6/10-12Camp Weeks:
6/15-6/19 (Camp); 6/22-6/26 (Camp); 6/29-7/3 (Camp); 7/6-7/10 (Camp) The Camp Director would be responsible for the full range of duties as listed in this job description.MENTORING
Develop a positive, authentic & proactive relationship with youth, be a role model, facilitate team and personal growth. Show consistency in structure, boundaries, behavior and communication to build trust with youth.PLANNING
Responsible for planning and leading activities, daily reflections, camp lessons, sports and games, and outdoor educational program. Daily activities include team-building games, skill-building lessons, team sports and arts & crafts.SUPERVISING
Primary supervisor for 1-2 high school youth leaders throughout the course of the session. Provide daily feedback, encouragement, support, and formal evaluations.OUTDOOR EXPERIENCE
General knowledge and ability in experiential education and outdoor activities. Judgement and the ability to anticipate and manage potential hazards in outdoor settings, both physical and emotional, under stressful conditions. Ability to maintain ample energy, strength, and focus to lead and assist youth in a wilderness environment.CERTIFICATIONS
First aid certification appropriate to wilderness activities, as a minimum CPR/First Aid. Wilderness First Aid (LGT and WFR or WEMT preferred). Drivers license required.Pay:
