Job Description
The Salt Operations Supervisor supervises the day-to-day movement of salt and related materials using heavy equipment. This position oversees material handling heavy equipment operators responsible for bulk material movement, loading, transport, and staging of materials. The Supervisor provides direction, training, and oversight to ensure equipment is operated properly and work is performed in accordance with company policies and safety requirements
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Supervise daily material handling operations to ensure the timely movement of products and materials to support production, storage, and shipping activities. 2. Direct and coordinate material handling heavy equipment operators engaged in material handling activities including loading, unloading, transport, and staging of materials. 3. Plan and assign work schedules to meet operational demands and ensure adequate staffing coverage. 4. Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, training, and feedback; address employee concerns and administer discipline as necessary in accordance with company policies. 5. Ensure equipment is operated safely and maintained properly, coordinating with maintenance personnel when repairs or preventative maintenance are required. 6. Support production and shipping goals by coordinating with other departments to ensure materials are moved efficiently and accurately. 7. Maintain operational records and reports related to material handling activities, safety compliance, and equipment usage. 8. Ensure employee time records are reviewed and submitted timely and accurately in accordance with company payroll procedures. 9. Any other duties deemed necessary by the supervisor. 10. Support and comply with all Company policies and procedures including safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards. Participate in the SVM Safety Program and demonstrate safe work practices at all times.LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct supervision of approximately 10 employees High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Driver's License subject to DMV record monitoring. Training/certification in heavy equipment operation.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires normal or correctable vision, normal hearing, and manual dexterity. Frequent walking and sitting. Occasional standing, reaching climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, and lifting up to 100 pounds.WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily in physical plant/field with exposure to outdoor weather and loud noise. Regularly works near moving mechanical parts. Frequent exposure to high traffic areas including heavy equipment. Working on, under or around moving or stationary railcars and locomotives. Regularly exposed to wet and humid conditions. Occasionally works in high and precarious places. Occasionally exposed to fumes, and toxic or caustic chemicals.Percent Travel:
