Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract This opportunity is for a Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students, based onsite in Trona, CA. The position is a contract role spanning from early August 2026 to late May 2027, with part-time hours totaling 15 per week. The focus will be providing individualized instruction, primarily on a 1:1 basis, with potential for additional caseload after further assessment.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored educational support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs). Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to modify curriculum. Monitor and document student progress and adjust teaching strategies. Facilitate communication development, including the use of assistive technologies. Engage with families and specialists to support students' academic and social growth.
Qualifications and Experience:
Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Experience working directly with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Knowledge of relevant educational strategies and communication modes (e.g., sign language, auditory-verbal approach). Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively within an educational team. Commitment to providing supportive, student-centered instruction.
