In this role, you will craft authentic and visually stunning sushi dishes that delight our guests and elevate their dining experience. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience with sushi making, cutting whole fish, and preparing fresh ingredients for sushi service. Your expertise in sushi preparation, knife skills, seafood handling, and ingredient preparation will be essential in maintaining our high standards of quality, freshness, and presentation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary artistry in a vibrant, fast-paced environment where creativity and precision are celebrated. Duties Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, nigiri, specialty rolls, and other Japanese-inspired dishes with exceptional attention to detail and presentation Cut and fillet whole fish safely and efficiently for sushi and sashimi preparation Prepare sushi ingredients including sushi rice, seafood, vegetables, sauces, and garnishes according to restaurant standards Ensure all seafood and ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled according to food safety regulations Develop innovative sushi recipes and menu items that appeal to diverse customer tastes Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station in compliance with health and safety regulations Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi techniques, knife skills, fish cutting, and proper ingredient handling Manage inventory levels, monitor storage conditions, and minimize waste through efficient kitchen practices Collaborate with the culinary team to maintain consistency in taste, appearance, and portion sizes across all dishes Qualifications Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role in a reputable Japanese restaurant or sushi bar Strong experience in sushi making, sashimi preparation, and cutting whole fish Excellent knife skills and knowledge of seafood handling and sushi ingredient preparation Ability to prepare sushi rice, sauces, vegetables, and garnishes for daily sushi operations Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation procedures, and inventory management Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude Passion for Japanese cuisine, creativity in presentation, and dedication to delivering exceptional guest experiences Join us if you are eager to bring artistry, precision, and authentic sushi craftsmanship to our restaurant.
