Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Interest in information technology, educational technology, technology support, systems operations, or public-sector technology work preferred. Experience working with computers, mobile devices, software, or web-based systems preferred. Experience with Google Workspace, Chromebooks, macOS, Windows, spreadsheets, printers/copiers, classroom displays, phones, basic troubleshooting, inventory, or helpdesk support helpful but not required. Ability to follow directions, ask questions when needed, and document work clearly. Ability to communicate professionally with staff, students, and other members of the school community. Ability to work independently after receiving direction. Strong attention to detail, organization, reliability, flexibility, and follow-through. Ability to maintain confidentiality when working around school systems, devices, student information, staff information, and district records. Valid driver's license and ability to travel between district schools preferred. Ability to complete applicable background check, fingerprinting, and onboarding requirements before beginning work. Position Summary:
The Technology Assistant supports the Windham Northeast Supervisory Union Technology Department with summer preparation, technology support, inventory, device setup, documentation, and school technology projects across the district. This temporary position is well-suited for an individual with limited technology experience who is interested in gaining hands-on experience. The position contributes to the success of the Supervisory Union by helping ensure that student devices, staff devices, classrooms, and technology systems are prepared, organized, and ready to support teaching, learning, and district operations.
Performance Responsibilities:
Assist with preparing, cleaning, organizing, labeling, and inventorying student and staff devices. Assist with setup and preparation of Chromebooks, MacBooks, iPads, peripherals, and related equipment. Support classroom technology setup, testing, and organization. Assist with basic troubleshooting for devices, printers, phones, classroom displays, projectors, and other school technology. Help maintain accurate inventory records, asset tags, spreadsheets, and project tracking documents. Support basic helpdesk requests under the direction of Technology Department staff. Assist with staff and student technology onboarding workflows. Assist with organizing technology carts, storage areas, supplies, and workspaces. Create or update internal documentation, checklists, and how-to resources as assigned. Assist with routine technology maintenance and summer preparation projects. Communicate clearly and professionally with Technology Department staff, school staff, students, and other members of the school community. Escalate complex issues, concerns, or questions to Technology Department staff. Follow district procedures for the responsible use of technology systems, devices, and information. Maintain confidentiality when working with or around student, staff, and district information. Support other technology-related projects and duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout school buildings. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 30 pounds, such as computers, monitors, printers, classroom technology equipment, and boxes of supplies. Manual dexterity is required to finger, handle, or grasp objects, including computers, tools, cables, and technology equipment. The employee must be able to hear, talk, and see in order to communicate with staff and complete technology support tasks. Ability to drive is preferred due to travel that may be necessary between schools and offices within the District/Supervisory Union. The majority of the position is performed indoors in school, office, and technology workroom environments.
