Role:
We are seeking an AI Engineer to design, build, and support scalable AI-powered solutions for enterprise use cases. This role sits within the AI Engineering function and contributes to translating business needs into production-grade AI systems under guidance, with a primary focus on LLM-based solutions (e.g., ChatGPT/OpenAI) while maintaining flexibility to integrate emerging AI platforms. You will work closely with AI Enablement, IT, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and high-impact AI capabilities that improve productivity and drive measurable business outcomes. _ Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to): Design and implement AI-powered workflows and applications with guidance from senior team members using LLMs (ChatGPT/OpenAI, and future platforms) Build and maintain components of agent-based systems, orchestration layers, and prompt frameworks Develop APIs and services to integrate AI into enterprise systems (e.g., ServiceNow, internal tools, data platforms) Implement RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures using enterprise data sources Contribute to building solutions are modular, reusable, and scalable Contribute to the design and implementation of AI system architecture under guidance, including model selection, routing, and orchestration Support integration of AI capabilities into existing enterprise ecosystems Collaborate with security and data teams to support enforcement of: Data boundaries Access controls Compliance requirements Contribute to development and maintenance of enterprise prompt libraries and reusable frameworks Optimize prompts and agent flows for: Accuracy Consistency Cost efficiency Collaborate with AI Enablement to standardize prompt patterns across teams Support the design and execution of evaluation frameworks (e.g., OpenAI Evals, DeepEval) Assist in building automated pipelines to test: Accuracy Reliability Edge-case handling Continuously monitor and improve model performance in production Partner with business stakeholders to: Support identification and development of AI use cases with business stakeholders Translate business requirements into technical solutions with guidance Rapidly prototype and iterate on AI solutions
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field 2+ years of experience in software engineering or AI/ML engineering (flexible based on capability) or an equivalent combination of relevant training and education (6+ years) Hands-on experience building AI/LLM-based applications
Programming:
Python (required), JavaScript/TypeScript (preferred)
Frameworks & Tools:
LLM tooling: OpenAI APIs, LangChain/LangGraph, Flowise (or similar)
Backend:
FastAPI, Node.js Frontend (nice to have):
React Data & AI:
Pandas, NumPy, basic ML concepts Experience with RAG pipelines and vector databases
DevOps & Engineering:
Git/GitHub API design and integration Containerization (Docker preferred) Experience building AI agents, chatflows, or automation workflows Familiarity with evaluation frameworks and testing methodologies Understanding of prompt engineering and LLM behavior Experience integrating AI into enterprise environments Exposure to ServiceNow, ITSM workflows, or enterprise support systems Knowledge of data pipelines and knowledge management systems Familiarity with AI governance, security, and compliance considerations Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments Strong problem-solving and systems thinking Ability to translate moderately defined business problems into technical solutions with guidance Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Proactive, adaptable, and able to operate in a fast-evolving AI landscape Neurocrine Biosciences is an EEO/Disability/Vets employer. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 20% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
