About the Role Good NC programmers get told a part can't be done. The good ones find the setup that proves that wrong. Takt Engineering provides support to advanced manufacturing teams on their toughest problems. We are currently looking for a Senior NC Programmer to assist a client with building large, complex machined parts. You'll own the full program from first setup through final cut: fixturing, setup sheets, simulation, and the code itself. This is a floor role. You'll be working next to the machines and the people running them, not handing off a program and walking away. This is an onsite role in Costa Mesa. Job Responsibilities Turn a print into a running program: fixturing, setup sheets, simulation, and the NC code. Work the floor directly with machinists and manufacturing engineers to get programs proven out and parts moving. When a part looks impossible, find the setup that makes it work instead of sending it back. Support new processes and machines as the shop's capability grows. Keep cycle times and quality both on target, without shortcuts that show up later. Required Qualifications 10+ years programming and machining large parts in hard metals and exotic alloys. Reads and interprets complex engineering drawings, specs, and GD&T to plan a job before the first cut. Strong Siemens NX background; Teamcenter and Vericut experience required. 5-axis work on large-envelope parts. Small job-shop background doesn't carry over to this kind of work. Spends real time on the floor, not just at a CAM station.
Programs fast without leaving gaps:
tooling, fixturing, and setup sheets are part of the job, not an afterthought. A team player. Treats a hard request as something to figure out, not shut down, and communicates well with the people running the machine. Preferred Qualifications Has built out machining plans across more than one product line or platform. Helped bring up a new process or line from scratch. Comfortable working directly with design and engineering when a part needs rework to be manufacturable.
Pay:
$70.00 - $100.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 60.0 per week Application Question(s): What's the most difficult material you've programmed for, and what did you have to change to make it work?
