We're hiring a full-time Entry-Level Computer Repair Technician to join our in-office repair team. Professional computer repair or IT experience is not required. We provide training on our repair processes, diagnostic tools, and workflow. However, this is not a position for someone with no hands-on computer experience. We're looking for someone who already enjoys working with computers, understands computer hardware, keeps up with modern technology, and wants to turn that interest into a career. What You'll Do You'll work alongside our technicians diagnosing, repairing, upgrading, and testing customer computers and other devices.
Typical work includes:
Diagnosing desktop and laptop hardware problems Troubleshooting Windows and software issues Installing and replacing SSDs, hard drives, RAM, and other components Installing and configuring Windows and common software Performing computer upgrades and system setups Performing data transfers and backups Malware and virus removal Testing hard drives and SSDs Running hardware and software diagnostics Performing final testing and quality-control checks Documenting diagnostics, repairs, and work performed Communicating with customers about their devices Assisting other technicians with more advanced repairs and diagnostics Required Hands-On Experience You must have successfully built a complete, working computer system from individual components, either for yourself or for someone else. This means you have personally assembled the system, installed the components, connected everything properly, and successfully gotten the computer operational. If you have never successfully built a complete computer system, please do not apply for this position. Professional experience is not required. Building computers for yourself, friends, family, gaming, or as a hobby absolutely counts. You should understand the basic purpose and function of common computer components, including: CPU RAM SSDs and hard drives Motherboards Graphics cards Power supplies Cooling systems Other common PC components Software & Technology Knowledge Hardware knowledge is only part of the position. We're also looking for someone who is comfortable with current software and technology.
You should be familiar with:
Windows 10 and Windows 11 Installing and troubleshooting software File systems and basic file management iCloud and other common cloud services Email and web applications Data transfer and backup concepts Modern AI tools such as ChatGPT We don't expect you to know everything. We do expect you to know how to think through a problem, research something you don't know, use the tools available to you, follow procedures, and explain the reasoning behind your troubleshooting decisions. Requirements Must have successfully built a complete working computer system from individual components Basic understanding of computer hardware and how the major components work together Comfortable working inside desktop computers Comfortable using and troubleshooting Windows Comfortable learning unfamiliar software and technology Strong troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills Ability to follow detailed procedures Ability to accurately document work performed Dependable and punctual Good communication skills Professional appearance and attitude Ability to safely handle customer equipment and customer data Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to lift and move typical computer and IT equipment Preferred, But Not Required Previous professional computer repair experience CompTIA A+ certification Laptop repair experience Basic networking knowledge Microsoft 365 experience Data backup or data recovery experience Customer service experience Training & Growth We provide hands-on training on our systems, repair procedures, diagnostic tools, and standards. You'll work directly with experienced technicians and gain real-world experience diagnosing and repairing customer equipment. As your skills develop, there will be opportunities to gain experience in more advanced areas including data recovery, networking, onsite service, and business IT support. Compensation & Benefits Starting pay: $14.00 per hour Full-time position Monday-Friday schedule 1 week (40 hours) PTO per year, accrued based on hours worked PTO available after successful completion of the introductory period Hands-on technical training Opportunities for increased responsibility and advancement About This Opportunity We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys computers and technology and wants an opportunity to turn that interest into a career. A desktop computer powers on and the fans and lights come on, but there is no display on the monitor. What could cause this, and how would you troubleshoot it? Explain what you would check and in what order.
