Essential Elements:

Print Job Purpose Statement/s:

The job of "Computer Technician" is done for the purpose/s of performing skilled work involving installation, repair and maintenance of a variety of computers, peripherals and network components.

Essential Job Functions:

• Diagnoses problems and repairs, installs and maintains electronic equipment including, peripherals and network components and other instructional or administrative computer equipment.
• Provide inservice to staff for preventive maintenance, installation and use of computer equipment and peripherals as requested.
• Tests new and existing computer equipment and peripherals.
• Diagnoses, repairs and provides preventive maintenance for a variety of computers and peripherals.
• Maintains an inventory of replacement parts, tools, test equipment and supplies used in the servicing and repairing of computer equipment and peripherals.
• Assists staff in evaluation and development of specifications for purchase of computer equipment and peripherals as requested.
• Construct or adapt computers and test equipment as requested.
• Coordinates needed vendor repair for maintenance, adjustment, or repair of computers, peripherals and network components.
• Picks up and delivers equipment at District facilities.
• Configure network equipment such as TribeStar bridges.

Other Job Functions:

• Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Qualifications:

Experience Required:

Two (2) year of experience in the maintenance and repair of computer equipment, peripherals and network components. Specific experience in computer and peripheral repair highly desirable.

• Skills, Knowledge and/or

Abilities Required:

Skills to use various types of electronic test equipment, operate standard office equipment including use of computer applications. Knowledge of computers and various software applications, various types of electronic test equipment, materials and tools.

• Abilities to perform skilled repair and maintenance work on various types of computer equipment, orient others in equipment operations, establish and maintain effective working relationships. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/kneeling/crouching, reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity.

Education Required:

High School diploma or equivalent.

• Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or

Testing:

Valid California Driver's License and evidence of insurability, Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, negative pre-employment drug screen test and negative TB test results. Requirements /
