Job Description

Job Overview Insight Global is seeking an experienced Senior IT Support Specialist to serve as the primary onsite IT resource for a manufacturing and laboratory facility in Wallingford, CT. This individual will function as the sole onsite IT representative, supporting both office and production environments while partnering closely with centralized IT leadership and infrastructure teams. This role requires a highly independent IT professional who can provide white-glove end-user support, troubleshoot critical manufacturing systems, support server and file storage environments, and respond quickly to business-critical production issues. Unlike a traditional help desk role, this position supports a manufacturing operation where downtime directly impacts production. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working under pressure, prioritizing urgent issues, and serving as the face of IT for the site. The environment includes office users, laboratory personnel, manufacturing employees, specialized production equipment, label printing systems, and business-critical applications. End User Support & Client Services Serve as the primary onsite IT contact for all technology-related issues Provide Level 2 and Level 3 desktop support for employees across the facility Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, and connectivity issues Support laptops, desktops, docking stations, monitors, peripherals, and mobile devices Diagnose and resolve Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 issues Assist users with account access, permissions, and authentication issues Deliver exceptional customer service while supporting a demanding user base Respond quickly to urgent production-related technology issues Microsoft 365 & User Administration Support Microsoft 365 applications and services Perform basic administration within Microsoft 365 admin portals Manage user account provisioning and deprovisioning Assist with password resets, account maintenance, and access requests Support Active Directory administration activities Assist with Azure-related user and access management functions Onboarding & Offboarding Prepare and deploy equipment for new hires Configure laptops, desktops, and user accounts Recover equipment from terminated employees Maintain hardware inventory and asset tracking Support workstation setup and relocation activities Manufacturing & Production Technology Support Provide onsite support for manufacturing technology environments Troubleshoot technology supporting production lines Assist with maintenance of production-related hardware and systems Respond to manufacturing outages and high-priority incidents Partner with infrastructure and systems teams when escalations are required Support business-critical systems where downtime impacts production operations This is one of the most important aspects of the role. The site includes manufacturing operations that require immediate attention when issues arise. Candidates must be comfortable working in environments where urgency and responsiveness are critical. Server, Storage & Infrastructure Support Support Windows server environments Assist with virtual machine administration and troubleshooting Support file storage environments and file access requests Troubleshoot network connectivity issues Work with centralized infrastructure teams to resolve escalated issues Support server maintenance activities and system updates Printer & Labeling Technology Support Strong printer experience is highly desired for this position.
Responsibilities include:
Troubleshooting thermal label printers Supporting Zebra printer environments Maintaining ribbon-based label printers Supporting warehouse and manufacturing labeling processes Troubleshooting enterprise multifunction printers Supporting Ricoh print devices Assisting with printer connectivity and configuration issues Troubleshooting scanning, printing, and copying functionality Because labeling is a critical component of manufacturing and shipping operations, printer support experience will be highly valued. Device Imaging & Hardware Support Create and maintain device images Re-image replacement hardware when needed Support Windows workstation deployment activities Troubleshoot workstation hardware failures Perform hardware upgrades and replacementsds Ticket Management Manage and document work through a ticketing system Maintain accurate incident documentation Prioritize and resolve tickets based on business impact Support local users while occasionally assisting with remote support requests ServiceNow experience is helpful, but experience with any enterprise ticketing platform is acceptable.
