Our academic program emphasizes mathematics, literacy, artificial intelligence, and data science. Technology supports classroom instruction, school operations, and communication with families. Position Overview We are seeking a proactive, dependable IT and Systems Specialist to manage all school technology systems, digital platforms, network infrastructure, and communication tools. This hands-on role includes installation, cabling, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and user support. The specialist will help teachers use computers, phones, drones, robots, and other instructional equipment, while maintaining reliable school systems and supporting the deployment and ongoing use of AI. The successful candidate must identify problems, act promptly, communicate timely updates, and follow through until issues are resolved. Responsibilities Technology Installation and Maintenance Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, phones, cameras, copiers, printers, classroom displays, and other school technology. Deploy and support MacBooks, iMacs, Chromebooks, and related equipment. Install, organize, label, test, and maintain network cabling, connections, racks, and related infrastructure. Administer Google Workspace for Education, Jamf, GoGuardian, and other school applications. Manage user accounts, permissions, onboarding, password recovery, access changes, and offboarding. Perform preventive maintenance, monitor system performance, and promptly repair equipment or coordinate repairs. Maintain equipment inventories, software licenses, subscriptions, warranties, and replacement plans. Coordinate with vendors and service providers, verify completed work, and resolve outstanding issues. Network, Intranet, and Cybersecurity Install, maintain, and support the school's internal network and intranet, including wired and wireless connectivity and internal resources. Manage switches, routers, access points, firewalls, internet connections, and related infrastructure. Configure and monitor web filtering and device restrictions to prevent students from accessing harmful or inappropriate websites and content. Investigate attempts to bypass restrictions and promptly address identified gaps. Maintain cybersecurity protections, multifactor authentication, software updates, and appropriate access controls. Protect student, family, and staff information through secure configurations and responsible data handling. Maintain backups and recovery procedures for critical school data and systems. Respond promptly to outages, security concerns, and urgent technical issues. Maintain network diagrams, cabling records, system documentation, and continuity procedures. Classroom Technology and Teacher Support Help teachers set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, phones, drones, robots, robotics kits, and other instructional technology. Support classroom activities involving coding, robotics, drones, AI, and related equipment. Install and update instructional software, firmware, applications, and device drivers. Troubleshoot connectivity, compatibility, calibration, and equipment-performance issues. Test and prepare equipment before lessons, demonstrations, competitions, and school events. Provide practical training and clear instructions so teachers can use equipment effectively. Coordinate repairs, replacement parts, and technical support for specialized instructional equipment. Student Information Systems and Parent Access Administer and support the student information system, including accounts, permissions, integrations, reporting, and parent access. Maintain reliable connections and data synchronization between school platforms. Support parent portals and troubleshoot login, account, and access issues. Assist authorized staff with system configuration, data imports and exports, and reporting. Ensure users have access appropriate to their roles and responsibilities. Website and School Communications Maintain the school website and promptly publish approved announcements, calendars, resources, and updates. Prepare and distribute approved newsletters, email mailings, SMS messages, and other school communications. Manage communication platforms, mailing lists, contact records, and message-delivery settings. Troubleshoot communication and delivery issues for staff and families. Support accessible communication formats and multilingual communication tools. AI Deployment and Staff Support Evaluate, deploy, configure, and maintain approved AI systems for instruction and school operations. Support staff's ongoing use of AI through training, troubleshooting, and practical guidance. Help develop AI-assisted workflows that improve efficiency and reduce administrative workload. Configure AI systems with appropriate privacy, security, age, and access settings. Monitor AI integrations, subscriptions, and performance, and resolve technical issues. Maintain documentation for approved AI tools and workflows. Responsive Support and Communication Provide timely, professional technical support to teachers, staff, students, and families. Acknowledge support requests promptly and communicate progress, next steps, and expected resolution times. Take immediate action on urgent issues affecting instruction, school operations, student safety, or security. Track requests, prioritize competing needs, and follow through until issues are resolved. Explain technical issues clearly and prepare guides for common tasks. Support technology setup for classrooms, labs, assessments, meetings, and school events. Identify recurring problems and implement improvements to reduce disruptions. Required Qualifications Demonstrated experience managing IT systems and providing hands-on technical support. Experience installing and maintaining network equipment and cabling. Working knowledge of macOS, ChromeOS, Google Workspace, networking, firewalls, and cybersecurity practices. Experience with Jamf or a comparable device management platform. Ability to administer and troubleshoot cloud-based applications, user accounts, and integrations. Ability to diagnose hardware, software, connectivity, and access issues independently. Ability to learn and support specialized instructional equipment, including drones and robotics systems. Strong organizational skills, clear communication, and consistent follow-through. Ability to prioritize urgent needs and manage multiple responsibilities. Reliable attendance and availability for consistent on-site support. Commitment to confidentiality and responsible handling of school information. Ability to meet applicable school employment and background-screening requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting technology in a K-12 school. Direct experience with Jamf, GoGuardian, and Google Workspace for Education. Experience administering student information systems and parent communication platforms. Experience maintaining websites, newsletters, email campaigns, and SMS systems. Experience supporting cameras, phone systems, copiers, and classroom technology. Experience maintaining drones, robots, robotics kits, or other STEM equipment. Experience deploying AI tools and training staff in their use. Relevant IT certifications or education.
