Job Description
Engineering Support SpecialistAbout the Role The Engineering Support Specialist provides technical support to internal and external customers by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, network, and system issues. This on-site position also supports remote locations and is responsible for hardware installation, software deployment, system integration, and ongoing IT support. In this role, you will apply engineering and technical principles to support system design, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives. You'll work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Production teams to ensure reliable system performance while maintaining compliance with company and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for desktops, laptops, servers, networks, tester systems, and end-user devices both on-site and remotely. Install, configure, maintain, patch, and upgrade hardware, operating systems, software, and business applications. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues in a timely manner. Monitor system performance, identify recurring issues, and implement corrective and preventive solutions to minimize downtime. Install and support network cabling, servers, workstations, and production equipment. Assist engineering teams with new system installations, testing, validation, and commissioning. Analyze system performance and recommend improvements that increase reliability, efficiency, and uptime. Participate in IT infrastructure projects and recommend technology solutions that improve operations. Develop and maintain technical documentation, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and system diagrams. Ensure systems comply with company policies, safety requirements, and applicable regulatory standards. Support manufacturing operations by maintaining equipment readiness and responding to critical production issues, including occasional after-hours support. Assist with automation initiatives using scripting tools to improve system recovery, deployment, and operational efficiency. QualificationsRequired 5+ years of experience supporting IT infrastructure, computer systems, networks, or engineering systems. Strong knowledge of Windows 11, Remote Desktop, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio). Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, flowcharts, and system diagrams. Excellent troubleshooting skills involving hardware, software, networking, and peripheral devices. Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Experience using help desk ticketing and incident management systems. Ability to safely lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces when necessary. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, or production environments. Basic scripting or automation experience using PowerShell or similar tools. Spanish bilingual skills are a plus. Work Environment This position is primarily based within a manufacturing facility and production environment. Work is performed at ESD-safe workstations, office areas, and throughout the production floor while supporting systems, equipment, and users. The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent manual dexterity, frequent movement throughout the facility, occasional lifting of equipment weighing 25-50 pounds, and the ability to work in confined spaces when installing or servicing equipment.
