The Transport organization supports legacy and modern network platforms, including DWDM, Microwave, Nokia SAR/IP-MPLS, Network Management, Monitoring, and related infrastructure. Position Summary The Senior IT Transport Specialist provides technical, operational, and project support for PG&E transport network infrastructure. This role supports day-to-day operations, outage response, circuit migrations, network modernization, change coordination, restoration planning, documentation accuracy, monitoring improvements, and technical guidance for field and operations personnel. The position requires strong knowledge of Layer 1 and Layer 2 transport technologies, with focused responsibility for

systems within the IT Network Transport team. PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs. The hourly rate for this position ranges from $54.81to $87.50. This position is hybrid, working from your remote office based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory. Job Responsibilities Support the design, operation, maintenance, and modernization of PG&E's transport network, including IP/MPLS IP-MUX, DWDM/ ROADM, digital microwave, fiber, and SONET infrastructure. Support transport provisioning, circuit migrations, service turn-ups, cutovers, lifecycle replacements, and network expansion initiatives. Monitor network performance, investigate service impacts, troubleshoot complex transport issues, and coordinate restoration activities during outages. Develop and implement solutions that improve network reliability, resiliency, capacity, performance, and operational efficiency. Review network designs, routing, optical paths, inventory records, and technical documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards. Support deployment and operation of next-generation IP Multiplexing technologies, including Nokia SAR and IP/MPLS platforms. Coordinate change management, maintenance activities, and implementation efforts with engineering, operations, field personnel, vendors, and stakeholders. Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and subject matter expertise across transport technologies, operational practices, and troubleshooting methodologies. Drive continuous improvement through network audits, monitoring enhancements, process optimization, documentation, and standards development. Ensure compliance with safety, security and change management requirements while supporting critical telecommunications infrastructure.
Qualifications Minimum:
BA or BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience or technical training Minimum 4 years of IT operations experience IT-Information Technology Product certification, for example CCIE, CCAr, MCSE, MCSM, RHCA, RHCE or Certification applicable to the system being supported

BA or BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related discipline or equivalent experience or technical training 6+ years of network or telecommunications operations experience Must have advanced knowledge of designated product line and/or service Experience with Transport Technologies - Nokia
SAR/IP-MPLS
IP-multiplexers, DWDM/ROADM, Digital Microwave, SONET, DCS, channel banks, BITS timing, or serial data communications Experience with troubleshooting/operating Layer 1 Transport Systems Experience with troubleshooting/operating IP-MPLS, IP-Multiplexing Ability to perform preventative and remedial maintenance to operating systems Develop and document operational procedures Ability to evaluate existing and proposed systems and recommend upgrades and/or modifications Knowledge of operating or network systems and maintenance support Knowledge of system management Certification applicable to the system being supported (e.g., Nokia NRS II) Ability to research and survey new products and/or releases (e.g., productivity tools) Excellent written and verbal communications skills Able to work and communicate across multiple departments Ability to work independently and as part of a team Solid knowledge of key PG&E systems and processes Training Assist other specialists, analysts and technicians as appropriate in developing their own technical skills through training, presentations and involvement in the process of maintaining and supporting these systems (installations, upgrades, troubleshooting, problem resolution, etc.) Document and maintain training class curriculum
