A Help Desk Technician or Analyst provides technical support to computer users. Handles customer inquiries and works to resolve technical issues with computer hardware, software or networks. Provides customer support by phone, email, live chat or with screen sharing. May refer customers with complex system or application problems for more advanced technical support. Tracks help requests using a ticketing system.
Full-Time Reports to: Supply Chain Manager Job Summary Job Summary The IT Help Desk Level 1 (entry) supports day-to-day information technology operations within a manufacturing environment. This role assists with help desk requests, technical support, hardware and software maintenance, cybersecurity practices, and system documentation while gaining hands-on experience supporting both office and shop-floor technologies. Key Responsibilities Provide technical support to end users by troubleshooting computers, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and shop-floor terminals Assist with setup and maintenance of desktops, laptops, industrial PCs, and production-area equipment Support manufacturing and engineering software systems (CAD, CMMS, ERP, PLC interfaces, quality systems) and document recurring issues Maintain and update IT asset inventory, including tracking, tagging, auditing, and lifecycle documentation Support network infrastructure by assisting with cabling, port labeling, and installing network equipment under supervision Deploy software, operating systems, and updates; assist with imaging machines for new or replacement users Assist with cybersecurity practices such as MFA enrollment, password resets, endpoint protection, and phishing awareness Help document IT processes by updating SOPs, troubleshooting guides, diagrams, and knowledge-base articles Participate in continuous improvement projects, including upgrades, automation efforts, testing, and data collection Assist with data reporting and analytics by gathering metrics and preparing reports using tools like Excel Other duties as assigned
