$150k-$160k/yr Position Overview We are seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to help define the strategy, standards, and technical direction for our cloud and on-premises infrastructure. This role will lead efforts to improve platform performance, security, reliability, automation, and resiliency while supporting DevOps initiatives and broader business objectives. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with Kubernetes-based environments, infrastructure automation, cloud platforms, observability, and disaster recovery. This person will also provide technical leadership, guide cross-functional teams, and evaluate solutions that support secure and reliable application delivery. Key Responsibilities Establish strategic priorities for platform infrastructure, including hardware, software, cloud services, operating systems, and networking. Define and promote best practices for platform monitoring, performance optimization, troubleshooting, security, and resiliency. Lead the administration and optimization of containerized environments using Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher. Oversee automated and orchestrated service-delivery processes that improve platform efficiency and reliability. Optimize DevOps and Infrastructure as Code tools, including Terraform and API gateways. Collaborate with application development, security, infrastructure, and operations teams to bring new services and features into production. Lead cross-functional technical workstreams and provide guidance during complex incidents and platform-related projects. Identify potential security threats and establish standards for security compliance, risk mitigation, and platform hardening. Drive the development and implementation of backup, disaster recovery, security, and resiliency policies. Review high-level solution designs and provide technical recommendations. Research and recommend solutions for new platform requirements, system enhancements, and critical production issues. Build productive relationships with technology vendors and evaluate solutions that support organizational goals. Communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations to both technical and business stakeholders. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or at least nine years of relevant platform engineering or infrastructure experience in lieu of a degree. At least six years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or a related field. Strong hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher. Experience managing cloud-based environments in AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Expertise in Infrastructure as Code and configuration-management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or comparable technologies. Experience automating interactions with physical or on-premises infrastructure. Strong scripting skills using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages. Experience with monitoring, observability, and log-management platforms such as Splunk, ELK/Elasticsearch, or Nagios. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies. Strong knowledge of operating systems, networking, CI/CD practices, software deployment, security, and infrastructure operations. Ability to lead technical initiatives and collaborate effectively across multiple teams. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications Three or more years of hands-on experience supporting Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher environments. Experience managing Kubernetes platform services and runtimes, including: NGINX or other ingress controllers TLS certificate lifecycle management using cert-manager Secrets-management integrations such as HashiCorp Vault Experience deploying and administering observability and security tools such as Sysdig, Fluentd, and Elasticsearch. Familiarity with GitOps practices and continuous deployment tools such as Argo CD. Experience with API gateways and platform integration technologies.
