Sr. Systems Dynatrace Engineer
Location:
Columbia, MD (Hybrid) (2-4 times a month)12-month Contract-to-Hire (CTH)
Compensation:
$64/hr (W2)OverviewWe're looking for a Senior Systems Engineer / Observability Engineer with strong Dynatrace experience to support end-to-end monitoring and application observability across a hybrid environment. You'll build and maintain dashboards, tune alerting to reduce noise, and proactively detect performance issues before they impact production. You'll also support incident troubleshooting and root cause analysis with actionable monitoring insights.
What You'll Do
- Configure, maintain, and optimize Dynatrace monitoring for hybrid infrastructure (Windows/Linux) and cloud (AWS/Azure).
- Build and maintain Dynatrace dashboards, health checks, and alert thresholds.
- Tune alerts to minimize false positives and reduce monitoring noise.
- Use Dynatrace APM features to track performance and transaction flows (including PurePath tracing).
- Set up/support Synthetic Monitoring and Real User Monitoring (RUM) to measure and improve end-user experience.
- Identify performance risks early and provide monitoring support during incident response and root cause analysis.
- Support monitoring for critical/bridge applications and related monitoring tools (including a new monitoring proof-of-concept).Required Qualifications
- 5-10 years of Systems Engineering experience
- 5+ years of hands-on Dynatrace experience
- Experience with:
- Dynatrace configuration for hybrid + cloud environments
- Dashboarding, alerting, and alert tuning
- Dynatrace APM + transaction tracing (PurePath)
- Synthetic monitoring and RUM
- Incident support / troubleshooting / RCA collaboration
- Bachelor's degree (BS) requiredNice to Have
- Experience with Prometheus
- Strong Linux experience
