POSITION:

Computer Network Engineer Full-Time/ Provisional

QUALIFICATIONS

Must meet Civil Service eligibility requirements

•Appointment will be contingent upon taking, passing and being reachable on the civil service examination that corresponds to the position

• Possession of an Associate's Degree in Computer Science or a related field and five (5) years of computer experience, three (3) of which included LAN/WAN experience; OR Graduation from high school or possession of a GED and seven (7) years of computer experience, four (4) of which included LAN/WAN experience;

NOTE:

Possession of a Bachelor's Degree may be substituted for one (1) year of experience and a Master's Degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience

REPORTS TO

Chief Technology Officer

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops and maintains automated information management systems;
  • Develops applications for information security systems;
  • Provides 24/7 coverage of district computer network security, operating systems and various computing services;

Works primarily on the design, configuration and implementation of network servers, network operations, operation systems, networked applications and other components such as: fire walls, intrusion detection systems, wireless network architecture; virtual private networks and network account access;

Develops and maintains a district wide information technology network security system;

Performs network hardware and software maintenance services, including performance of diagnostic routines, problem isolation and correction through component replacement or installation of software patches;

Develops systems for providing technical support to all operations including on-site assistance

Performs preventative maintenance, cleanings and inspections;

May coordinate implementation of new applications or systems;

Maintains LAN/WAN disaster recovery plan;

Maintains standards of individual and network software/hardware installations.

SALARY:

Grade 34A, Step 1 - $90,602 (Prorated) Based on current CSEA Contract
