To learn more, visit https://ir.bitdeer.com/ About the Role We are seeking a hands-on Linux System Engineer to build, operate, and optimize the Linux compute and storage environment supporting Bitdeer's IC Lab in San Jose, California. This role owns day-to-day system administration, automation, monitoring, and troubleshooting for the lab's engineering infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance for its workloads. Responsibilities Configure, maintain, and optimize Linux-based systems. Develop and maintain Shell scripts for automation and operational efficiency. Manage storage systems, including NetApp, Ceph, and ZFS. Implement and maintain system automation tools for provisioning and configuration management. Deploy and monitor system performance and health using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, and Prometheus. Administer resource scheduling software for workload management. Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, ensuring high availability and performance. Apply networking and security best practices, including firewall configurations and access controls. Maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Requirements Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration (CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat), with expertise in system tuning and performance optimization. Proficient in scripting (Shell, with Python or Perl as a plus) and automation tools (Ansible, PXE, Kickstart). Experienced in storage management (NetApp, Ceph, ZFS) and system monitoring (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus). Knowledgeable in resource scheduling (Openlava, Slurm) and networking/security best practices (RHCE/CCNA preferred). Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with an innovative mindset to drive system improvements. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, able to perform under pressure.
