This position serves our partners at the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE).

MNIT MDE

manages the technical functions critical to managing public education in Minnesota; supporting systems including funding disbursement and large-scale, public-facing school performance data reporting. The IT Service & Support Technician provides education technology support to students, staff, administration, and other stakeholders at the Perpich Center for the Performing Arts School. This on-site position is responsible for delivering routine and moderately complex technical support to overcome technical hurdles with technologies in use, including group policy, client management, and imaging. This role supports Mac OS, Microsoft Windows, and Apple iOS devices, and performs virus and malware removal, workstation imaging, patching, asset management, and Microsoft Office support. The technician will manage and modify security groups, apply Group Policy settings under guidance, and provide both remote and in-person assistance through an internal service desk system. A significant portion of this role involves creating, modifying, and maintaining internal documentation and knowledge base articles to ensure consistent service delivery across the team. The position also requires effective communication with partners regarding the status and resolution of incidents and requests in a timely manner. This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last two (2) years. This position requires an employee to be onsite at 6125 Olson Memorial Highway, Golden Valley, Minnesota full-time. Telework is not an option.

  • :•Position requires a minimum of two (2) years of IT related experience in supporting MacOS, Microsoft Windows 10 and 11, and Apple iOS devices in a school or enterprise environment.
Experience must include:

+ Supporting computer hardware and printing in a network environment.

+ Working with Active Directory, Group Policy, and Networking (TCP/IP, protocols, and services).

+ Proficiency in Google Workspace Apps, Apple Apps, and Microsoft Office.

+ Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.

+ Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences. Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master's degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor's degree for one (1) year; and an associate's degree for six (6) months.

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • + Experience using the
JAMF MDM

platform.

+ Experience configuring, using, and troubleshooting Windows Servers, Active Directory, Group Policy, and PDQ or similar endpoint patching solutions.

+ Experience with Adobe content creation tools.

+ Understanding of Windows and MacOS file and print services.

+ Understanding and support of Google Workspace Apps.

+ Knowledge of ITIL Foundations.

+ Ability to manage routine tasks and prioritize workload under general supervision.

  • Physical Requirements
  • Requires moving/lifting devices such as desktop, monitors, laptops, and miscellaneous equipment from multiple locations, lifting devices up on to storage shelves above head (50 lbs.) and being able to gain access under desks.
