Job Description

Chautauqua County's Information Services Department is seeking a customer-focused, organized, and technology-driven Administrative Aide (IT Help Desk) to join our team. This position serves as the first point of contact for employees seeking technical assistance and plays a vital role in ensuring County staff receive timely, professional IT support. What You'll Do As an Administrative Aide (IT Help Desk), you will: Serve as the primary contact for incoming IT Help Desk requests by phone, email, and other communication channels. Assist users in identifying and resolving basic computer hardware and software issues. Troubleshoot technical problems and escalate more complex issues to appropriate IT staff. Create, document, prioritize, and track Help Desk tickets through the department's ticketing system. Dispatch service requests and communicate technician schedules and service updates. Create purchase orders and requisitions while following County purchasing procedures. Receive and process IT equipment deliveries. Prepare monthly reports related to IT contracts and vendor agreements. Maintain departmental calendars and assist management with scheduling and communications. Prepare spreadsheets, reports, correspondence, and perform basic data analysis. Conduct internet research to support departmental projects. Track software licenses and maintain licensing records. Process departmental time and attendance records for payroll submission. Provide backup support for mailroom or courier operations when needed. Perform related administrative and technical duties as assigned. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: Friendly, professional, and customer-service oriented. Organized with excellent attention to detail. Comfortable multitasking and managing competing priorities. Skilled at troubleshooting technology and explaining solutions clearly. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Able to maintain confidentiality while working with sensitive information. A strong communicator who works well independently and as part of a team. Minimum Qualifications Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and meet one of the following qualifications: Option A Associate's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a closely related computer field from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or technical school. Option B Completion of 60 semester credit hours from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or technical school, including at least 18 semester credit hours in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a closely related field. Option C Completion of a certification program in hardware repair, networking, or a related computer field from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or technical school and one (1) year of full-time paid experience in computer systems support, network administration, or information systems management. Option D Two (2) years of full-time paid experience in computer systems support, network administration, or information systems management. A certification in hardware repair, networking, or a related computer field earned within five (5) years of application may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience under Option D.
Additional Information:
This position is being filled provisionally in accordance with New York State Civil Service Law and is subject to the successful completion of a future Civil Service examination for this title. Appointment will be made from approved applications received.
Pay:
$22.94 - $29.52 per hour
