Job Description

Description The Medical Device Deployment Technician will support a large scale refresh of Capsule Neuron medical devices across active patient care environments. This role is highly hands on and onsite, focused on the physical replacement, configuration, and validation of legacy devices with minimal disruption to clinical workflows. The technician will work closely with internal technical leads to inventory existing devices, stage new hardware, and deploy replacement units across ICU, PACU, OR, clinic, and ambulatory settings. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform onsite replacement of legacy medical devices with new Capsule Neuron devices
  • Remove existing devices, disconnect cabling and mounts, and install new hardware
  • Reconnect peripherals, manage cabling, and secure devices to existing mounts
  • Configure device settings (naming, location, basic parameters)
  • Validate network connectivity and confirm communication with backend systems
  • Conduct front end testing to ensure device functionality before sign off
  • Participate in onsite asset inventory and device counts by location
  • Work in active patient care areas while adhering to clinical safety and privacy protocols
  • Collaborate with internal staff to coordinate deployment sequencing and access
  • Document completed deployments and report issues as needed Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Hands on experience with IT hardware installation or deployment
  • Solid technical aptitude and comfort with basic device configuration
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts (connectivity testing, ports, cabling)
  • Ability to follow technical deployment procedures with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable performing physical work (lifting, mounting, uninstalling/installing devices)
  • Willingness and ability to work onsite in clinical environments Deployment Plan & Project Structure This role supports a phased, batch based deployment program, not a continuous rollout.
  • Preparation Phase (May): o Conduct onsite inventory of existing Neuron devices by location o Support asset counts and deployment planning o Gain familiarity with campus layout and clinical areas
  • Deployment Wave 1 (June - Early August): o Replace ~500 devices across the main medical campus o Perform one for one device swaps: remove, install, configure, validate o Work performed weekdays in active patient care areas
  • Planned Break in Service (Early-Mid August): o Deployment pauses due to fiscal year close o All contractor work must conclude to allow for invoicing and payment o No active deployment during this period
  • Deployment Wave 2 (September - November): o Replace an additional ~550 devices o Work resumes with new fiscal year funding o Faster ramp up expected for returning technicians
  • Final Deployment Wave (January+): o Remaining ~550 devices deployed following holiday pause

Continuation is expected across deployment waves; however, brief pauses between phases are planned and driven by funding and hardware delivery timing.   • Experience working in healthcare, hospital, or clinical environments
  • Prior exposure to medical devices, bedside technology, or device refresh projects
  • Familiarity with Capsule Neuron, VitalStream, or ChartExpress platforms (nice to have)
  • Previous asset management or inventory experience
  • Awareness of working around patients, including sensitive or high acuity areas Experience Level Intermediate Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
