Job Description
Network Technician Position Overview We are seeking experienced Network Technicians to support network infrastructure upgrades and equipment migrations within an active industrial environment. This role will involve hands-on installation, cabling, equipment migration, and network cutover activities while following established safety, change-control, and validation procedures. Key Responsibilities Perform physical installation, removal, and replacement of network and IT/OT equipment. Install and prepare network cabinets, including equipment mounting, grounding, and power distribution. Restore, organize, label, and manage fiber and copper cabling according to established standards. Execute structured network cutover and migration procedures during scheduled maintenance windows. Support network equipment configuration, including switches, VLANs, and trunking. Assist with phased endpoint migrations and perform validation testing following each migration. Troubleshoot connectivity and equipment issues during installation and migration activities. Maintain accurate documentation of equipment, cabling, and network changes. Follow all site safety requirements, change-management processes, and approved implementation procedures. Required Qualifications Hands-on experience with network infrastructure installation, equipment migration, or network technician work. Experience working with network switches, fiber, copper cabling, and network cabinets. Understanding of VLANs, trunking, and basic network connectivity concepts. Ability to read and follow technical procedures and cabling/network documentation. Comfortable working in an active industrial or other brownfield environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to following established change-control procedures. Ability to work effectively during scheduled maintenance and outage windows. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting IT/OT or industrial network environments. Experience with network cabinet replacements or infrastructure refresh projects. Familiarity with structured cabling standards and cable management. Experience with network cutovers, migrations, or commissioning activities. Knowledge of industrial networking environments and operational technology. Work Environment This position is hands-on and requires working onsite within an active industrial facility. Candidates should be comfortable working around operational technology and existing network infrastructure while adhering to strict safety, access, change-control, and validation requirements.
