WHAT DOES A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THIS JOB LOOK LIKE?
This position covers everything from defining business requirements, supporting and developing application solutions, testing and quality assurance, deployment, and continuous maintenance and improvements. A typical day might find you performing a variety of activities for your application(s) such as:
- Being interested and able to learn new programming languages, technologies, and skills
- Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
- Create efficient, accessible, and secure software applications for users and the department
- Evaluate new software and systems to determine if feasible for Knox County needs
- Work with users and vendors in resolving user/application issues, or to enhance user service
- Integrate software components with third-party systems
- Developing testing plans and performing application testing
- Training users in software application packages, both commercial and custom written
EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND QUALIFICATIONS RELATED TO THIS JOB
- While a Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field and minimum of five (5) years' related experience would be nice - we value your experience in this area above all - so equivalent experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
- You will be required to fulfill Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification requirements throughout your employment with Knox County IT which includes, but is not limited to, a favorable background check completed and approved by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
