We envision a world with digital equity, where everyone has access to technology and the skills to use it. Cyber-Seniors provides tech training for older adults using an intergenerational volunteer model. Teens and young adults are trained as digital mentors through lessons and learning activities. Older adults are provided with technology training and partnered with volunteer mentors, enabling them to practice what they have learnt. The results are enriched intergenerational communities that keep both older adults and young people socially connected and engaged.
Job Description:
Conduct the following program. Requires a commitment of approximately 4 hours/week starting October 2026.
Cyber-Seniors:
Building Accessible Websites Program (2025) is a 20-week training initiative offered through Best Buy Teen Tech Centers. It provides youth ages 14-19 with entry-level web development skills using the WIX platform, with a strong focus on digital accessibility and inclusive design.
Key Features Technical Training:
Students learn to design and publish accessible websites that meet ADA, WCAG, Section 508, and
EN 301549
standards.
Certification:
Participants earn a WIX Accessibility Certificate , an industry-recognized credential.
Hands-On Projects:
Each student builds a fully functional, accessible website, optimized for SEO and usability.
Career Pathways:
Exposure to roles in web development, UX/UI design, and accessibility compliance .
Internships:
Two top participants are offered paid summer internships focused on accessibility audits, tech support, and training.
Extracurricular Opportunities:
Competitions, showcases, and community engagement projects with nonprofits and seniors.
Skill Development Technical Skills:
Website building, coding fundamentals, accessibility tools, SEO.
Professional Skills:
Communication, teamwork, leadership, project management. 21st-
Century Skills:
Problem-solving, adaptability, collaboration, digital literacy. Impact Participants complete the program with a portfolio-ready accessible website and certification. Builds confidence, job readiness, and pathways to further education or tech careers. Creates community impact by promoting digital inclusion for older adults and people with disabilities .
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Strong knowledge of the WIX web development platform is required. Prior experience working with youth required. Proficient in both reading and speaking English. Bachelor's degree or College diploma an asset. Prior teaching experience an asset. Proficiency in languages other than English as asset.
