About the
Role:
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale the internal platforms and tools that empower Crusoe's Customer Success, Support, and internal Engineering teams. You will be part of the Cloud Customer Experience (CCX) organization, focused on enabling operational excellence through high-leverage tooling. This role is critical in ensuring that internal teams can move quickly, debug issues efficiently, and deliver a seamless experience to our customers. You'll build systems that provide visibility into customer environments, streamline workflows, and reduce operational friction across the cloud platform.What You'll Be Working On:
Enable Faster Debugging:
Build tools that allow internal teams to quickly diagnose and resolve customer issues across distributed systems.Improve Operational Velocity:
Develop workflows and automation that reduce time-to-resolution and eliminate repetitive manual tasks.Partner Cross-Functionally:
Work closely with Customer Success, Support, SRE, and Product teams to identify gaps and deliver impactful tooling solutions. Build forScale:
Design systems that support rapid growth in customers, infrastructure, and internal users.Drive Observability:
Enhance logging, metrics, and tracing capabilities to provide actionable insights across the platform.Mentor and Lead:
Guide engineers through design reviews and implementation, contributing to a strong engineering culture Design, develop, and maintain internal tooling that enables internal teams to test, troubleshoot, debug, and resolve customer issues quickly. Build platforms that provide deep visibility into system health, usage, billing, and customer environments. Develop automation tools that reduce manual intervention and improve operational efficiency across teams. Partner closely with Customer Success, Engineering, Product, and Infrastructure teams to understand pain points and deliver high-impact solutions. Contribute to architectural decisions that improve system observability, debuggability, and maintainability across the platform. Drive best practices in tooling, developer experience, and operational excellence. Mentor engineers, enhance hiring practices, and contribute to building a strong, inclusive engineering culture. What You'll Bring to theTeam:
Tooling & Internal Platform Experience:
Proven experience building internal tools or platforms that improve developer productivity, operational workflows, or customer support capabilities.Customer & Operator Empathy:
Strong understanding of the needs of Customer Success, Support, or Operations teams, with a passion for improving their efficiency and effectiveness.Professional Experience:
5+ years of software experience in backend development.Distributed Systems Expertise:
Experience designing and operating scalable, fault-tolerant systems with strong observability and debuggability.Cloud & Infrastructure Knowledge:
Familiarity with cloud platforms and infrastructure tooling such as Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD systems.Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Demonstrated ability to work deeply with non-engineering stakeholders (Customer Success, Support, Operations) to translate needs into technical solutions.Automation Mindset:
A strong inclination toward eliminating manual processes through automation and building self-service capabilities.Mentorship & Leadership:
Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across teams.Communication Skills:
Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.Benefits:
