) Position Summary Crawford School is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Bus Driver to transport students to and from school and school-sponsored activities. The ideal candidate is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and positive environment for students while maintaining compliance with all transportation laws, district policies, and safety standards. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: safely operate a school bus on assigned routes and schedules; conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; ensure students board, ride, and exit the bus safely; maintain appropriate student behavior and address concerns according to school policies; follow all federal, state, and local traffic laws and transportation regulations; maintain accurate route logs, mileage records, and required reports; communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and transportation personnel; report accidents, incidents, mechanical issues, or safety concerns promptly; keep the bus clean and presentable; transport students for school activities as needed; and attend required safety meetings, training sessions, and professional development.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements (or ability to obtain before employment); current DOT medical certification; clean driving record and satisfactory background check; ability to pass required drug and alcohol screening; knowledge of safe driving practices and defensive driving techniques; strong communication and interpersonal skills; and ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
