Job Description
Job Summary Join our transportation team as a Bus Driver and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable, and friendly transportation services for our schools, and community. In this role, you will operate various types of buses, including school buses, activity buses, and wheel-chair lift equipped buses , to transport students and passengers efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety and customer service. If you are looking to acquire your CDL, we will provide paid training to obtain your Class B CDL. Duties Safely operate buses in accordance with traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations. Must have 3 years of driving experience. Ensure student/passenger safety by following emergency response procedures. Assist students/passengers with disabilities or mobility challenges by providing wheelchair assistance and ensuring proper use of safety equipment. Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle by performing pre-trip inspections and reporting any issues promptly. Enforce student discipline policies or behavior management strategies to promote a safe environment onboard. Respond quickly to traffic changes or unexpected delays by adjusting routes or notifying dispatch to ensure timely arrivals. Follow all state and local commercial driving laws, including hours of service regulations and company policy guidelines. Skills Proven experience in bus driving, or desire to train and obtain a Class B CDL. Strong knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and emergency response procedures for transportation. Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. when assisting passengers or handling luggage or mobility aids safely. Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated proficiency in defensive driving techniques and quick responses to traffic changes to ensure student/passenger safety at all times. Experience working with children is highly desireable. Ability to handle stressful situations calmly while maintaining professionalism. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with school bus and passenger endorsement; CPR and first aid certifications—training provided if needed.
