This energetic role offers the opportunity to work with children daily, providing a positive and secure environment while demonstrating excellent driving skills. As a School Bus Driver, you will be responsible for transporting students safely to and from school, extracurricular activities, and special events, all while fostering a welcoming atmosphere through effective communication and child-friendly behavior management. This paid position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about working with children and possess strong driving expertise. Duties Safely operate school buses and paratransit vehicles on designated routes, adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols. Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle mechanical safety and readiness before each route. Assist students in boarding and exiting the bus, ensuring their safety at all times. Maintain discipline and manage student behavior during transit to promote a calm and secure environment. Communicate clearly with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers using effective English or bilingual communication skills. Complete all required documentation such as route logs, incident reports, and daily maintenance checks accurately. Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents on the bus, coordinating with emergency services when necessary. Qualifications Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a passenger & school bus endorsement or willingness to obtain one prior to employment. Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or similar roles involving transportation of children or passengers. Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are highly valued for serving diverse communities. Mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems to perform basic inspections and troubleshoot minor issues. Experience working with children or in childcare settings is preferred; ability to manage behavior effectively is essential. Knowledge of safety regulations related to school transportation and child protection policies. Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, patient attitude toward students, parents, and school staff.
