Job Overview Join our team as a Daycare Bus Driver and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable transportation for young children. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for safely transporting children to and from daycare facilities, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Your dedication will help create a positive, secure environment for children during their daily commutes, fostering trust with parents and caregivers alike. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to combine driving expertise with a passion for working with children in a dynamic, community-focused setting. Responsibilities Safely operate school buses and transit vehicles, including paratransit and wheelchair-accessible buses, following all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Ensure the safety of all passengers by enforcing passenger safety protocols, managing student behavior, and providing assistance as needed. Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to verify proper functioning of brakes, lights, signals, and emergency equipment before each route. Assist children with boarding and disembarking, including helping with wheelchair assistance and heavy lifting when necessary. Ensure that all children safely enter schools before you leave. Respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies by executing emergency stop procedures and following emergency response protocols for transportation incidents. Maintain clear communication with dispatchers, parents, and school staff regarding route updates or delays. Complete detailed logs, incident reports, and vehicle inspection records accurately and promptly. Qualifications Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or commercial driving with a clean driving record. Valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle type (e.g., CDL license if required), with knowledge of vehicle codes and state/local commercial driving laws. Strong understanding of traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and transportation safety regulations. Experience working with children or in a childcare environment is highly preferred. Certifications in first aid and CPR are required; knowledge of emergency response procedures for transportation is essential. Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting children or loading equipment safely. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, staff, and emergency responders. Knowledge of student discipline policies and behavior management strategies to ensure a positive environment onboard. Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes or unforeseen circumstances with professionalism and calmness. $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
