A Bus Driver drives buses and transport passengers along a designated route. Works for a city public transit system, regional bus company, or school district.
The primary duties of this employee are to transport students to schools and district functions as needed.

Education/Certification/Requirements:
High school diploma/equivalent or higher Must possess or receive a Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License Class A or B with a P and S Endorsement Must possess Region 19 certification. Acceptable driving record Must pass employment Physical/Drug screening. Must be 21 years of age or older

Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate in English (verbal and written) with district employees, parents, students, and the general public Basic knowledge of traffic safety regulations Ability to identify and respond quickly to traffic safety hazards Ability to communicate instructions effectively to both children and adults Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions
Responsibilities:
Vehicle Operation Passes an annual physical as required by state law. Identify potential traffic safety hazards and respond quickly to protect children and avoid incidents. Obtains a Region XIX School Bus Driver Certificate. Exhibits proper safety habits. Acts as liaison and problem solver between the Transportation Department and the community with transportation-related problems. Instructs cover school bus drivers as to routes and schedules. Provides Transportation Supervisor and Director of Operations with route information data that is requested. Performs as substitute, regular bus driver, or monitor as needed. Drive bus to and from extracurricular activities. Drive extracurricular activities in-town and out-of-town during the evenings, weekends, and holidays. Be prepared and ready to work during the summer months if called upon. Obeys all traffic laws. Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses. Keeps assigned bus clean and ensure is it fueled. Keeps to assigned schedule, route, and designated stops. Checks bus before, during and after each operation for mechanical defects. Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips. Reports all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures. Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of Fabens ISD. Supports the goals and objectives of the school district and follows all district policies. Performs any other duties as assigned by the transportation supervisor. Demonstrates the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district operations. Provides optimal customer service to all students, employees, parents, community members and any other stakeholders of the district. Operate two-way radio equipment to communicate with transportation office. Other duties as assigned. Student Management 24. Maintains discipline when students are on bus. 25. Supervise students while they board and leave the bus and cross the street. 26. Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority and files appropriate misconduct form with supervisor. 27. Discharges students only at authorized stops. 28. Transports only authorized students. 29. Maintain monthly student ridership reports. 30. Ensure students are aware of rules and responsibilities as passengers.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., ability to drive school bus and other motor vehicles; repetitive hand motions; shift work. Frequent standing, walking, and/or climbing; lifting and carrying; stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching. Work outside and inside; work around moving objects.
Pay:
$20.31 - $25.05 per hour
