Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and safety minded Opener and Bus Driver to open our school at 6am, prepare breakfast, and ensure safe, reliable transportation for children to and from our childcare facility. CDL is not required. This vital role involves opening the facility in the morning, operating a school or transit bus, assisting children with boarding and disembarking, and maintaining a secure environment during transit. The ideal candidate will be committed to safety, possess excellent communication skills, and have a passion for working with children. Duties Open the childcare facility each morning, preparing the bus and ensuring all safety checks are completed before routes begin Safely operate a school or transit bus in accordance with traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations Assist children with boarding and disembarking, including wheelchair assistance and behavior management as needed Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and emergency stop procedures Maintain accurate logs of routes, passenger counts, and safety inspections throughout each shift Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and children to ensure a positive experience during transit Respond quickly to traffic changes or unexpected situations to ensure timely and safe transportation Skills Proven experience in bus driving, including school bus driving, transit bus operation, or commercial driving roles Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations at state and local levels Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse communities Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for wheelchair assistance or loading supplies Familiarity with emergency response procedures such as CPR, first aid, and emergency stop protocols Experience working with children or in educational settings; behavior management skills are highly valued Excellent customer service skills with a friendly yet professional demeanor Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes and adapt driving strategies accordingly Knowledge of school policies regarding student discipline and passenger safety standards Valid driver's license with appropriate endorsements for commercial or school bus operation; clean driving record required Understanding of transportation safety regulations including passenger safety protocols and vehicle operation standards Join our team as an Opener and Bus Driver for Childcare to help create a safe, welcoming environment that supports children's growth and development through reliable transportation.
