Job Description
Job Overview This position is a part-time role, drivers are needed to operate vehicles M-F from 7:30AM-9:15 AM, and 2:00PM-3:45PM Join our team as a Non Medical Transportation Driver and become a vital part of providing safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation services for individuals with diverse mobility needs. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting clients from their homes to our workshop while ensuring their safety and comfort. Your dedication will help improve lives by offering dependable transportation that promotes independence and well-being. Responsibilities Safely operate various types of vehicles including vans and buses in accordance with traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Assist passengers with wheelchair assistance, loading and unloading heavy or bulky items, and ensuring proper use of safety restraints. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation to handle unexpected situations swiftly and effectively. Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with passengers, addressing their needs, and managing behavior when necessary. Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle mechanical safety, including checking fluid levels, brakes, lights, and tires. Respond quickly to traffic changes or route adjustments to maintain punctuality and passenger safety. Maintain accurate records of trips, passenger details, vehicle maintenance logs, and incident reports as required by transportation safety regulations. Qualifications Valid driver's license Experience in bus driving, school bus driving, transit bus operation or similar roles involving passenger transport. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, state and local commercial driving laws, and transportation safety regulations. Strong communication skills Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities. Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle troubleshooting; ability to perform heavy lifting when needed. Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude; ability to manage passenger behavior professionally.
