Durable Medical Equipment Delivery Driver/Technician Location:

Full-time Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Durable Medical Equipment Delivery Driver/Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering, setting up, and maintaining durable medical equipment (DME) for patients in their homes, ensuring proper functionality and safety. This role requires excellent customer service skills, technical ability, the ability to efficiently navigate delivery routes, and a commitment to providing quality care and support to our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivery and Setup:
Safely transport and deliver DME such as oxygen tanks, wheelchairs, hospital beds, and other medical devices to patients' homes. Set up, calibrate, and test medical equipment to ensure proper functionality. Provide instruction to patients or caregivers on the proper use of equipment and its maintenance.
Route Planning & Navigation:
. Navigate local routes using maps, GPS, or other tools to reach patient locations in a timely and safe manner. Manage time effectively to meet delivery windows and patient needs, adjusting routes when necessary.
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure reliability and safety. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with equipment in the field. Replace or repair defective equipment as needed.
Customer Service & Communication:
Build and maintain positive relationships with patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers. Communicate with patients and caregivers to confirm delivery details, provide accurate timeframes, and ensure that any updates or changes are promptly communicated. Answer questions and address any concerns about equipment or procedures. Communicate any issues or changes with delivery or equipment needs to management.
Documentation & Reporting:
Complete delivery and setup paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain and update patient records, equipment logs, and maintenance reports. Ensure that all required documentation complies with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to all company, state, and federal safety guidelines, including the proper handling and disposal of medical waste and equipment. Ensure that the equipment is properly sanitized before delivery to the next patient. Comply with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
Inventory Management & Equipment Care:
Maintain and manage inventory, including adding and removing items from stock as needed. Clean and inspect medical equipment regularly to ensure functionality and safety. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the warehouse, ensuring that all equipment is properly stored and easy to access. Clean and organize the delivery van daily, ensuring it is ready for the next day's deliveries and stocked with necessary items.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent (required). Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Previous experience in DME delivery, medical equipment, or a healthcare-related field is preferred. Knowledge of medical equipment and its use is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Ability to work collaboratively with other employees, including other delivery drivers, technicians, and office staff, to ensure smooth operations and optimal patient care. Basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting and minor repairs. Ability to lift and carry heavy medical equipment (up to 50 lbs). Ability to efficiently navigate delivery routes using GPS or map-reading tools. Ability to work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, snow, etc.) as deliveries may be required in various environments. Strong attention to detail for inspecting and maintaining equipment. Organizational skills for managing inventory and keeping track of equipment.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift, carry, and transport medical equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in various home environments and navigate narrow spaces. Ability to drive long distances and work flexible hours Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including the heat, rain, snow, and cold.
Benefits:
Health and dental insurance Eligible for 40 hours of paid vacation after one year of employment. After three years of employment, eligible for 80 hours of paid vacation. Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
