In this vital role, you will oversee vessel operations, manage crew activities, and uphold the highest standards of maritime safety and customer service. Your expertise in boat handling, navigation, and vessel maintenance will drive smooth operations while fostering a positive environment onboard. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work in the water transportation industry, combining leadership, technical skills, and a passion for maritime adventure. Duties Operate and navigate vessels safely using marine navigation systems and maritime piloting techniques in accordance with US Coast Guard (USCG) regulations. Manage vessel handling, including docking, anchoring, and maneuvering in various water conditions. Oversee vessel maintenance and rigging tasks to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are met. Lead crew management activities, including supervising deckhands and steward staff to promote teamwork and efficiency onboard. Conduct safety drills, enforce maritime safety procedures, and ensure compliance with all water transportation safety protocols. Perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks during vessel setup, maintenance, or cargo handling operations. Communicate effectively with crew members using maritime crew communication protocols to coordinate daily activities. Maintain water transportation equipment, ensuring all gear is properly maintained and inspected regularly for safety compliance. Apply mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot vessel systems and perform minor repairs as needed. Manage overall vessel operations, including managing schedules, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering excellent customer service. Qualifications Prior experience in the water transportation industry or maritime environment is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of USCG regulations related to vessel operation and safety procedures. Demonstrated ability in boat handling, marine navigation systems, and vessel management Proven skills in crew management and team leadership within a maritime setting or military background are advantageo Familiarity with maritime safety procedures and communication protocols essential for safe operations Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while managing heavy lifting requirements. Excellent communication skills for effective coordination among crew members and adherence to maritime piloting standards.
