Position Purpose The Driver Recruiter is responsible for attracting, engaging, and hiring qualified professional drivers who align with the company's safety standards, operational needs, and culture. This role plays a critical part in building and maintaining a strong driver workforce by managing the full-cycle recruiting process
- from sourcing and screening to onboarding
- while fostering positive candidate experiences.
The Driver Recruiter partners closely with multiple departments to ensure staffing goals are met, compliance goals are maintained, and long-term retention strategies are supported. Position Responsibilities Source and prospect CDL-A drivers through job boards, social media, referrals, and driver databases Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified driver candidates for current and future openings Manage and respond to inbound leads from recruiting ads and campaigns Conduct initial phone screens to assess experience, driving record, and fit Verify CDL class, endorsements, and years of experience Pre-screen for
DOT/FMCSA
compliance requirements (MVR, PSP, Background status) Coordinate background checks, drug screens, and employment verifications Guide candidates through the application and hiring process from first contact to start date Partner with safety/compliance teams to confirm driver qualification files are complete Maintain regular communication with candidates to reduce drop-off/no-show rates Maintain accurate candidate records in the ATS/recruiting system Work closely with operations/dispatch to understand lane needs, freight types, and hiring priorities Partner with safety and HR teams on qualification standards and onboarding logistics Position Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a driver recruiter in the transportation industry
- Experience using Tenstreet to review and process driver applications
- Strong interpersonal skills (both verbal and written)
- Excellent organizational skills with a high level of detail
- Confident and energetic when engaging with both passive and active candidates
- Knowledge of DOT regulations
- Ability to solve practical problems
- Ability to multi-task, self-motivated
