Job Description This ReStore donation ambassador/driver is responsible for picking up ReStore donations from individual and corporate donors, assessing the donation's suitability, safely packing the merchandise in the ReStore truck, and driving to the ReStore to unload the merchandise. The Driver must act as a "Donation Ambassador" of Habitat for Humanity ReStore while interacting with Donors and Corporations. Responsibilities Working with and managing volunteers. Drive Habitat ReStore vehicles to pick up and deliver donated goods. Load and unload all donated materials. Maintenance checks of Habitat ReStore vehicles. Evaluate donations for ReStore suitability. Provide a Charitable Donation Receipt at the time of donation pickup. Must have willingness to learn cash register POS system. Communicating with ReStore Manager regarding incoming donations. Maintain an effective working relationship with ReStore donors, staff, volunteers and customers. Daily cleaning and straightening of ReStore loading/processing areas. Qualifications Experience as a Driver of Commercial vehicles in New York City. Knowledge of NYC "Commercial Vehicle Restrictions" of certain roadways. Must be a good listener and be able to engage in well-considered discussions. Must have good anticipatory abilities and personally act as need arises. Must be willing to understand the big picture of Habitat for Humanity NYC and Westchester and know that ReStore is only a part of the larger goal. Must pass Criminal Background Check, and DMV check. Must have valid NY State driver's license, and a clean driving record. Ability to speak Spanish a plus but not required.
Physical Demands:
Required to lift 50 pounds regularly / required to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally. Will experience frequent lifting, bending, squatting and repetitive motion. Ability to spend majority of the day driving, standing, moving heavy items. This position will occasionally be exposed to extremes in weather (e.g., heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, etc.). Work may require using GPS, power tools, climbing ladders, considerable standing, bending, kneeling and reaching in awkward and tiring positions. Starting pay is $20 per hour.
