Yard Helper

Overview Join the Unified Disposal Partners (UDP) team as a Yard Jockey and play a critical role in supporting our waste services operations. In this fast-paced and safety-focused position, you will be responsible for moving trailers, organizing yard traffic, and supporting the efficient flow of inbound and outbound waste and recycling materials. This role is essential to keeping our transfer station, hauling, and disposal operations running smoothly. You will work closely with drivers, dispatch, and operations staff to ensure trailers are properly staged, exchanged, and moved safely throughout the yard. Duties Safely move, position, and stage trailers within the yard using yard tractors / yard goats. Perform trailer swaps for inbound and outbound waste collection trucks. Assist drivers by backing trailers into docks and designated loading/unloading areas. Maintain organized trailer flow to ensure efficient dispatch and receiving operations. Conduct routine yard checks to ensure proper trailer placement and yard cleanliness. Inspect trailers for safety issues, reporting damages, leaks, or operational concerns immediately. Communicate with dispatch, drivers, and yard supervisors to coordinate movement of equipment. Support loading/unloading operations as needed to maintain operational efficiency. Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards at all times. Complete basic documentation related to trailer movement and yard activity logs. Requirements Prior experience as a yard jockey, truck driver, or in waste/transportation logistics preferred. Ability to safely operate yard tractors (yard goats) and/or similar heavy equipment. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred but not required (depending on yard needs). Strong understanding of backing, trailer alignment, and yard maneuvering safety. Knowledge of DOT regulations and basic transportation safety standards. Ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment in varying weather conditions. Strong attention to detail and situational awareness in high-traffic yard settings. Physical ability to climb in/out of equipment and perform yard inspections. Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills. Pay:

$16.00 - $18.00 per hour
