Train Driver / Greeter / Playground Host The Playground at Niederwald The Playground at Niederwald is looking for a fun, energetic, dependable person to join our team as a Train Driver / Greeter / Playground Host . This is not a sit-back-and-watch-the-clock position. You'll be one of the faces of The Playground and a big part of creating the welcoming, fun atmosphere families come here for. One minute you may be driving our train full of excited kids, the next you may be welcoming a family at the entrance, helping someone find an activity, cleaning up a guest area, or jumping in wherever the team needs you. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys people, is great with kids, and isn't afraid to stay busy. What You'll Do Train Driver Safely operate The Playground's train during scheduled operating hours. Welcome passengers and help families safely board and exit the train. Check tickets or passes as required. Create a fun experience for kids and families — we want more than someone who simply drives in circles! Follow all train safety procedures and complete required opening and closing checks. Keep the train and surrounding loading area clean and organized. Immediately report any mechanical or safety concerns to management. Greeter & Guest Experience Welcome guests with a friendly, upbeat attitude as they arrive. Help explain The Playground's activities, including train rides, gem mining, crafts, food and beverage options, and other experiences. Direct guests to the appropriate areas and answer basic questions. Help families understand waivers, tickets, passes, and Playground rules. Be proactive about noticing guests who may need help rather than waiting to be asked. Help create the kind of environment where families feel comfortable staying, playing, eating, and spending the day with us. Playground Host Be present throughout the property and interact positively with guests. Help keep playground areas, pavilions, tables, turf, and common spaces clean and guest-ready. Pick up trash, wipe tables, straighten areas, refill supplies, and handle other light cleaning throughout the shift. Help monitor activities and communicate Playground rules in a friendly but confident way. Assist with birthday parties, special events, busy weekends, and other activities as needed. Jump in to support the coffee truck, food trucks, bar, gift shop, grounds team, or management with reasonable tasks when needed. Who We're Looking For You'll probably love this job if you: Are naturally friendly, outgoing, and comfortable talking to people. Enjoy being around children and families. Can be playful and fun while still taking safety seriously. Are dependable and show up when scheduled. Notice what needs to be done and do it without having to be asked repeatedly. Are comfortable working outside and being on your feet for most of your shift. Can stay positive when it's hot, busy, loud, or there are a lot of families needing help at once. Are willing to clean, organize, take out trash, and help with the less glamorous parts of running a great family venue. Work well as part of a team and understand that at a small local business, "that's not my job" isn't how we operate. Physical & Scheduling Requirements Ability to work outdoors in Texas weather. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, and perform routine cleaning and setup tasks. Ability to safely operate the train after completing training. Weekend and holiday availability is important, as these are some of our busiest times. Must be able to reliably arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
