Job Description
Provide a supporting role for a variety of customer based automotive engineering and testing projects while developing skills to successfully take the project to completionAssist with coordinating internal support activities which include hardware development and testing, machine shop, engine build, fabrication and garage servicesCarry out engine as well as powertrain systems hardware testing and support related program activities (test setup, implementation of data acquisition and reporting systems, data review, post-test analysis, etc.)Support component and system design activities as neededPrepare and deliver technical reports and presentations as part of documentation for program reviewsAssist program engineers to diagnose hardware issues and verify proper functionalityManage inventory of engine and powertrain components along with related test hardwareSeek and employ continuous improvement strategies for increased quality and through-putAssist with customer correspondencesParticipate in peer design reviewsAssist project leaders by documenting and publishing peer design review meeting notesTo be considered as a Powertrain Product Engineering Intern, you will need:
Applicants must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR/EARMust have a minimum sophomore standingMust be currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical, or automotive engineeringMust be available for the summer of 2026 and be able to work a 40 hour work week onsite Monday through FridayStrong MS Excel experienceMust have a valid driver's licenseWillingness to travel and/or work overtime upon requestA strong desire to learn and execute base engine/vehicle testing and systems integrationMust have a hands-on automotive background with a desire to work with engines and powertrain hardwareAbility to perform effectively in a team environment with customers, engineers, designers, lab technicians, mechanics, machinists and engine buildersDemonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsMust be self-motivated and possess rapid problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyA successful candidate may also have:
Previous experience with hardware design and validation testing (previous employment, student design projects, etc.
