The API Double Certified Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity, safety, and compliance of equipment and facilities within the oil and gas industry. This position requires conducting thorough inspections in accordance with the American Petroleum Institute (API) standards, specifically holding dual certifications that validate expertise in multiple inspection disciplines. The inspector will be responsible for identifying potential defects, assessing risk factors, and recommending corrective actions to maintain operational excellence and regulatory compliance. Working closely with engineering and maintenance teams, the inspector ensures that all inspections are documented accurately and that findings are communicated effectively to stakeholders. Ultimately, this role supports the prevention of equipment failure and environmental incidents, contributing to the overall safety and efficiency of operations across various sites in the United States.Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of two valid API certifications relevant to inspection disciplines (e.g., API 510, API 570, API 653). Minimum of 3 years of experience performing inspections in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry. Strong understanding of API codes, standards, and inspection methodologies. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and inspection data. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites across the United States.Preferred Qualifications:
Additional certifications such as NACE corrosion technician or welding inspection certifications. Experience with digital inspection tools and software for data collection and reporting. Familiarity with safety management systems and environmental regulations related to inspection activities. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Prior experience working in diverse geographic locations and challenging environments.Responsibilities:
Perform detailed inspections of pressure vessels, piping, storage tanks, and other related equipment in accordance with API standards and company protocols. Utilize dual API certifications to conduct comprehensive assessments covering multiple inspection scopes, ensuring thorough evaluation of equipment condition. Document inspection results meticulously, prepare detailed reports, and communicate findings and recommendations to engineering and maintenance teams. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement corrective action plans based on inspection outcomes. Stay current with industry regulations, API code updates, and best practices to maintain compliance and enhance inspection quality.Skills:
The required skills enable the inspector to perform precise and compliant inspections by applying API standards and interpreting complex technical information daily. Dual certification skills allow the inspector to cover multiple inspection areas, increasing efficiency and thoroughness in evaluations. Strong documentation and reporting skills ensure that inspection findings are clearly communicated and actionable, supporting maintenance and safety teams. Preferred skills such as proficiency with digital inspection tools enhance data accuracy and streamline reporting processes.
